iPad Alone Would Be America's 11th Largest Company

FORTUNE -- Just how lucrative has Apple's iPad become? Let's put it this way: if the tablet were spun off into a standalone business, it would be the 11th largest U.S. tech company.

Classic Tom Brady...Almost

Well that was interesting. As a die hard pats fan, for the first time ever, I felt this morning like i usually do after a bad loss. After the game I almost had to ask myself, "Wait, we won right?". It was the best worst win I think the pats have ever had.

Music is one subject I have yet to write about and for those who know me, I'm a music fanatic. I listen to almost everything. I tend to shy away from classical, swing, jazz, basically anything pre-1970. Other than that, I listen to just about everything.

DVD vs. Blu-Ray

About a year and a half ago I got a Samsung Blu-Ray Surround Sound System but I was hesitant in buying one for a long time because, with any technology, I thought it was just a fad and something new and better would arrive soon.

Fantasy Football 2012 in Review

Dec 26, 2012

As always I have had an up and down Fantasy Football season.  It's sad to see it done, and already I ask myself, "Where am I picking next year?".  This year being my fourth year as a manager, I tried some new things kept some old things and just flat out went crazy.  Here are some ups and downs for me this season............

DOWNER:

I made it to the playoffs in two leagues this year.  Although one of them was hilarious since I beat out the other team for the 8th position only by 2 points during Monday Night Football with Chris Johnson of all people doing it up for me, who has been a bang or a bust week in and week out.  As I said previous in this blog I blame the coaching staff for that, seeing as he is a player that has rushed for over 2,000 in a season.  Either way, I learned that waiver moves the end of the season is a lot more important that thought out to be.  after making a huge trade with Aaron Rodgers for Willis Mgahee, Desean Jackson, and Chris Johnson.  Of course Jaskon and Mgahee then go out three weeks before the Fantasy Post Season, not to mention I lost my kicker.  Needless to say smart of me to make the trade when I did, stupid of me since I lacked any depth leading into the playoffs and was living on a prayer going up against the number one seed in the league! MAJOR DOWNER!

UPPER:

In a league which I did not like last year, I ended up also making an epic comeback with a 6 game winning streak to tie for first in the division, and sure up a wild card spot in a 6 team playoff.  Although I went out in the first round of the playoffs I was proud of my acquisition of RG3 through a trade earlier in the season and drafting Alfred Morris as my last pick for my team in the draft--Needless to say everyone thought I was nuts and stupid for doing this... BOY WERE THEY WRONG AND DAMN DOES IT FEEL GOOD TO BE RIGHT!  I have high hopes for this league next year, and already have my QB and RB probably, unless something happens between now and the next season.  All I have to say is RG3 for Prez ( My Team Name).

DOWNER:

Who ever thought that fighting for last place would have been a big deal this year?  Well in my longest running keeper league it was.  For the past three year I have had Michael Vick and LeSean Mccoy helping my team lead me to the playoffs.  Well this year I was plagued with Injuries and moves which I wish I had made.  Needless to say in order for me to get the number one pick next year I decided to bench the last three players going into Monday Night Football which I had.  If I had played them I would have won by two points and had the second pick in the draft.  Not to self though..... Don't post a dick remark 10 minutes after kickoff of Monday Night Football, only to be told what I did went against the integrity of the league.  I didn't break any rules, just strategizing (<--is that a real word) for next year.  Last year I did a fire sale this year, this and of course because of me a new rule was in-acted because of my deliberate actions.  As a result I will have my lovely college friends be making the name of my Fantasy Team ext year--The League anyone? anyone?.  I have to say this was a very clever rule and was impressed with our commissioner since I thought that people were going to quit from my douchiness.

Although I had more Downers in the post, I am going to cut it at that.  All and all if their is no bullshit, it just ins't Fantasy Football.  For example when you lost int he final game heading into the playoffs, and were the second highest scorer behind the person you were playing being the first!  Oh well, Its been a fun year and am counting down the day's till next year!

Back to Reality.........

Redskins Vs. Cowboys Sunday December 30th, 8:20 PM, NBC..... The dead-skins might clinch the division??  May have lost Fantasy but nothing beats your team doing well!

Redskins Vs. Eagles Preview

Dec 23, 2012

With the playoffs approaching quickly and the Redskins control of there own destiny, this divisional game is must win!  Although the Eagles have had a dismal and dramatic season already, this could be a great way to upset there divisional rivals with a win, as well as end the season on a good note.  LeSean McCoy is back from injury and will be worked in along with rookie back Brown still getting some carries.  There has been a lot of talk about Michael Vick, more on the side of will he be in Philly next year, but needless to say looks like Foles is going to be getting the start.

For the Redskins there young Stud of a QB RG3 is back in the burgundy and gold, looking to further his already excellent season as a rookie for the Washington Redskins.  After sitting out last weeks game against the Browns RG3 looks like he will be wearing a protector on his knee, but does not look as though he is suffering from much discomfort, unlike last week.

I see this game being a lot closer than people would ever expect.  Since the team has already met once the eagles have a better idea of the looks they'll be getting with the Pistol Formation as well as the already speedy RG3.  With his injury though look into possibly getting more of a pocket passing RG3, and a clock consumption monster in Alfred Morris.  As long as the Redskins are able to control the game with Morris and putting up big plays with RG3's arm I see the redskins edging this one out for a win, and still controlling there destiny going into the final game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Final Score 34-27 Washington Redskins.  HTTR!

This week be on the look out for ALL THE NFC EAST Teams.  Three teams have a chance to make it, and if all of them win out, then there might be THREE NFC East teams on the road to the superbowl.  For Minnesota not only are you looking to see if Houston can keep there dominance now after there win last week, but more importantly Adrian Peterson is on the road to breaking the rushing record and is definitely within reach.  Although the NY Jets have been only but bad things, this week though is going to be a new QB and might actually give the team something to cheer about.

With only two more full weeks left of football enjoy one of the last Sunday fun-days of the regular season!

Redskins Vs. Browns RECAP

Dec 17, 2012

I am not going to even look back to see when the Redskins were first in the NFC East because it has been TOO long.  But with the win over the Browns and the HUGE Giants Loss, the Redskins are now in a three way tie for first place in the NFC East.  This season is far from over and the Redskins still control there destiny.  With two divisional games with the weeks to come there is still a lot to be decided in the NFC East.

One thing though is for certain, Captain Kirk came to play this Sunday   Putting up 329 Passing Yards, 2 TD's, with a minor blimp of 1 INT.  Kirk not only got a win, but also showed why Coach Shannahan took Cousins when he did.  This brings up an interested discussion now, seeing as though the Redskins are lacking first round draft picks for the years to come, Kirk now has some trade value if the need is there.  I personally would like him to stay, not much really changed with the offense and I like having a solid backup rather than GROSSman.

All the skins came out to play, Morris having another monster game with two TD's and rushing again for over a 100 yards.  Not to mention Leonard Hankerson had a career game posting TWO TD's for the first time ever.  I think the one thing that has stood out in my mind for the past weeks is the discipline of the defense.  I would have never imagined Haslett being able to put the pieces together and allowing this defense that didn't know what football was in the 4th quarter to now hunker down and play better in the latter half of the game. This isn't what the NFL is used to in years past, and is only the beginning!

Let's hope the RED HOT Washington Redskins can keep this up and steam-roll there way into the playoffs!

Hail to the Redskins!

Thursday Night Preview - Eagles Vs. Bengals

No comments:

Dec 13, 2012

For this game the Philadelphia Eagles are looking to spoil the Bengals chances at making a late post-season run.  This year the Eagle's season has been a hug disappointing  already with the firing of there Defensive Coordinator.  They have dealt with injuries to there start players such as Mccoy and Vick.  the Bengals have shown promise of being a playoff team but have been struggling with games in there division and still are just on the cusp of the playoffs.
Tonight's should be a good one, but nothing to really worry about too much.  I expect that the Eagles will end up on top of the Bengals, and be more of a tryout for next year than anything.

Be on the look out at A.J. Green who has proven he can be a top Wide-out in the NFL who is posting 10 Touchdowns and 1151 Yards receiving.  I expect him to have a big game in the air as well as Ben-Jarvis Green-Ellis controlling the ground.  For the Eagles Nick Foles is looking to gain some more momentum and gain anther win showing that he can in-fact be a starter in the National Football League.  I expect that there rookie RB Brown will have a good game, and has already shown  what Andy Reid saw in this talent.  I expect that the Eagles will have a face lift in the coaching department come the end of the season.

My prediction is the Eagles will be beating the Bengals 27-20.

NFL's Drinking Problem

No comments:
Thing's just keep getting worse for the young stars of the NFL. After last week's tragedy involving Jevon Belcher, another life has been taken in the NFL. This time it was Dallas Cowboys linebacker Jerry Brown. Early Saturday morning, he and fellow Cowboys teammate Josh Brent, were out drinking and Brent decided to drive home drunk. He hit a curb while speeding and flipped the car over. Brown was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly there after. The irony of this story is that the accident took place a little over a mile away from the national headquarters of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). One of the NFL's biggest partners in the fight against DUIs. This begs the question, is the NFL doing their part to protect the players?

Since January 2000, there have been 624 arrests of NFL players. 177 of which were arrested under suspicion of drunk driving. That's over a DOZEN players every year that get arrested for drunk driving. Eighteen players have been arrested just this year for drunk driving. The NFL has put into place programs to prevent this from happening. From education, to discipline, even as far as having a chauffeur service available to all players that need a ride home. Clearly this isn't enough.

Personally, I'm 26, and I like to drink. A lot. Have I ever driven when I shouldn't have? Yes. Almost everyone has, even those who don't want to admit it. I like to go out and have a good time. At some point in the night you'd think we, as human beings, would say, "hmm, should I stop drinking so I can make it home safe?". Sometimes we do, but there are plenty of times we don't. I get that, I've been there. When you're out having a good time, you don't want to stop drinking. Especially the more you drink. I'm not a millionaire athlete who can just call up a chauffeur service to drive me home. Which makes NFL players look like fools. If I made even half of what they make, I'd be hiring a driver every night I went out, even if it was $100/hr. Just knowing I don't have to worry about endangering my own life, and more importantly, the lives of innocent bystanders

The NFL and NFLPA need to make a stand. They need to enforce harsher penalties for players who get into trouble. There's no excuse for it. Go out and have a great time. Party all night, nobody is taking that away from you. Just don't get arrested. Plain and simple. There are plenty of people in this world who would do anything to be a professional athlete. Don't take it for granted. Just take a little advice.
