Pats vs. Texans

Dec 10, 2012

Tonight's Monday Night Football matchup is one of the best in recent memory. It's getting late into the season, the top two teams in the AFC battling for that coveted #1 spot and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs. There's no question that the Texans have been a great team for years, but they have nothing to show for it.

Division titles really don't mean much if you can't win in the playoffs. Considering Houston had a third string quarterback leading their team into the playoffs, most are saying that this matchup against the Patriots is the biggest game in franchise history. Considering I'm a die hard Pats fan, I'll take that as a compliment. But on the other hand, the biggest game in franchise history? In week 14? You'd think we were playing Cleveland in the AFC Championship. (For those who don't know, the Browns have never played in a Super Bowl.)

Arian Foster is arguably the best running back in the league, Andre Johnson has as much talent as anyone in this league and Matt Schuab has been better than average for them for years now. Yet they made the playoffs for the first time ever last year. Now all of a sudden their the best team in the AFC? What gives? If the Pats win tonight, that'll be ten consecutive seasons with 10 or more wins. We've lost 3 games by a TOTAL of 4 points. Yet everyone is saying the Texans will finally pull through and be the team to beat in the AFC. How about the fact that the Patriots have represented the AFC in the Superbowl 5 times in the last 10 years? Won 3 super bowls and 9 division titles in the same stretch. There's no way Houston is coming into our house, with the #1 spot on the line and beating us. It doesn't work like that.

Pats 31, Houston 26
